Effect of carbon emission and inflation on inventory model with price dependent demand and time dependent holding cost

Abstract

This study presents an inventory model with realistic factors such as price-sensitive demand, preservation technology investment, carbon emission, inflation and time-dependent holding cost. Carbon emissions are accounted for during holding and deterioration processes, integrating environmental sustainability into the model. Inflation effect is also considered over planning horizon and the holding cost is treated as a time dependent function. The objective function is to maximize the total profit by jointly optimizing the selling price, replenishment cycle, and preservation technology investment. Under inflationary conditions and sustainability limitations, the model offers managerial insights into striking a balance between economic and environmental performance in inventory systems.
